Words from Head Coach Alex Bryan for the Past 2018 football season
Head Coach is still under consideration for the up coming 2019 season. If you would like to be considered, please contact the Football Coordinator Derek Oats.
Youth Football (2nd, 3rd and 4th grade) is the introductory point of tackle football. This is a very significant time in a youth's development, and is where they begin to learn fundamentals of the game and skills such as team work, drive, perseverance and over coming adversity that translates to growth both on and off the field. Though expectations are high, we understand that these are fragile ages were patience and focus on confidence building is needed. Our priority in coaching these young players, is safety, team commitment, and perseverance. We want each player to end the season having felt they were a part of a team as well as having more knowledge of this great sport and developed skills that can be used for life. We want the kids to come back year after year and learn and love the game of football. I have always loved football, but I love teaching kids most of all. Being a part of the Amherst Patriots football community for the last 3 years has been rewarding and fun. When downtown in the Amherst Village, or at the local supermarket; whenever I see a player we've coached it gives me great joy to know that the organization is playing a part in that youth's growth in a positive and meaningful way. Win, lose, or draw, I hope the game of football teaches them not only the sport, but also how to be a part of a team.
